Casermetta

CASERMETTA (SMALL BARRACKS)

It is a construction built against one of the towers of the wall belt.
The town walls run along the coast line to prevent the enemies from landing near the town, and their eventual attacks.  The construction consists of a stony base and a higher part of dry earth bricks.
Four main building phases have been identified ranging from the 6th century B.C. to 397 B.C.
