The Mosaic House

It was named Casa dei Capitelli (House of the Capitals) by J. Whitaker for the high number of these architectural elements.
The Mosaic House is a residential complex with an arcade and colonnade.  Its floor is decorated by a black-and-white pebble mosaic.
The mosaic represents a multi-panel rug showing real and fictitious animals.  Some are isolated  and others are fighting.  It is surrounded by a border decorated with the hooked meander of the lotus flower, small palms, and waves.

It is difficult to date it precisely but an excavation in 1995 established its earlier date around the 6th century B.C. and its later one about 397 B.C.
